Training and Simulation Center

Research, training of doctors and the development of pediatric medicine

The Training and Simulation Center of the Children's National Medical Center is a modern facility for the hands-on training of medical professionals.

Here, doctors and nurses can practice clinical skills on specialized simulators and manikins in conditions that are as close as possible to real medical practice, but without any risk to patients.

The main areas of training are emergency care, resuscitation, surgery, anesthesiology, intensive care and nursing.

Training programs

Basic life support — BLS and PBLS

Practicing cardiopulmonary resuscitation algorithms for adults, children and infants: assessing the patient's condition, performing chest compressions, maintaining an open airway and working as a team during emergency care.

Laparoscopic surgery

Hands-on training for surgeons in minimally invasive procedures. Participants practice:

  • working with the laparoscopic camera and instruments;
  • hand–eye coordination;
  • basic endosurgical techniques;
  • laparoscopic suturing.

Anesthesiology and intensive care

Training sessions for anesthesiologists and surgical specialists on performing complex medical procedures:

  • tracheal intubation and airway management;
  • ultrasound-guided and standard central venous catheter placement;
  • arterial catheter placement;
  • lumbar puncture.

Nursing

Nurses practice core practical skills and patient care algorithms:

  • intravenous and intramuscular injections;
  • nasogastric tube placement;
  • urinary catheterization;
  • stoma care;
  • carrying out doctors' orders;
  • caring for patients who require special monitoring.

Center equipment

The Center is equipped with modern medical simulators that make it possible to practice skills repeatedly in a safe environment.

Simulated laparoscopic operating room

A specialized area with laparoscopic trainers for learning and refining minimally invasive surgical techniques.

BLS and PBLS manikins

Adult, pediatric and neonatal manikins with a feedback system that evaluates the correctness and quality of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Anesthesiology trainers

Head and airway phantoms for practicing standard and difficult intubation, as well as various airway management techniques.

Trainers for invasive procedures

Specialized models for lumbar puncture and central venous and arterial catheter placement. The realistic anatomy of the trainers brings training as close as possible to clinical practice.

Multifunctional manikins

Full-size patient manikins designed for practicing nursing procedures, patient care and a variety of medical procedures.

Teachers and instructors

Training is delivered by specialists of the Children's National Medical Center with hands-on clinical experience.

  • Shoakmal Shoanvarovich Shorakhmedov — Head of the Training and Simulation Center, Candidate of Medical Sciences (PhD).
  • Mokhira Toshpulatovna Nomozova — nursing instructor.

Who can take part

At present, the Center's programs are focused primarily on the continuing professional development of staff at the Children's National Medical Center.

Training is provided for:

  • surgeons;
  • anesthesiologists;
  • pediatricians;
  • emergency department doctors;
  • nurses from specialized departments.

How training works

Practical sessions are organized according to the Center's internal schedule.

Requests for training sessions are submitted by heads of departments and senior nurses, based on staff needs to practice specific clinical skills.

Simulation sessions for different groups of specialists are held regularly — on average 4–7 sessions a month.

Cost of training

For staff of the Children's National Medical Center, training is free of charge as part of the internal program of continuing professional development for medical staff.

Certification

After completing the training, participants receive an internal certificate from the Children's National Medical Center confirming their participation in the simulation training.

The certificate states the length of the training and the list of skills practiced.

Development of the Center

One of the key areas of development for the Training and Simulation Center is the introduction of international standards for training medical professionals.

Future plans include a joint grant project with KOICA, international certification of instructors and official ERC Course Centre status — a training center of the European Resuscitation Council.

This will make it possible to deliver training under international programs and issue internationally recognized certificates to participants.
