Neurology Department

Diagnosis and treatment of nervous system diseases in children

The Neurology Department of the Children's National Medical Center diagnoses, treats and monitors children with diseases of the nervous system — from the newborn period to adolescence.

We use an evidence-based approach and modern diagnostic methods to accurately determine the cause of the disease and choose effective treatment.

Main areas

  • epilepsy and epileptic syndromes
  • headaches and migraine in children
  • delayed speech, cognitive and motor development
  • autism spectrum disorders
  • movement disorders
  • neurological diseases in newborns and young children
  • rare and hereditary neurological diseases
  • consequences of stroke, injuries and infections of the nervous system
  • neurorehabilitation and long-term follow-up

What makes the department unique

The department combines a clinical, evidence-based approach with highly specialized diagnostics in pediatric neurology.

We do not stop at making a diagnosis — each case is considered individually, taking into account the child's age, clinical picture and test results.

Particular attention is paid to complex forms of epilepsy, epileptic encephalopathies, rare hereditary diseases and autoimmune disorders of the nervous system.
